The South African Justice minister has admitted that the country's ongoing immigration controversy is beginning to affect its image across Africa, with businesses and entertainers reportedly feeling the impact. Speaking on the issue, the official said several South African companies operating in other African countries have faced backlash, prompting government efforts to provide support and engage affected businesses. The official also revealed that South African artists are among those being affected, claiming that many are seeing performances and bookings cancelled across the continent. According to her, one artist personally reached out to complain that all her gigs outside South Africa had been cancelled, resulting in a significant loss of income. She said the situation is hurting South Africa's brand and stressed that the government is trying to convince other African countries that South Africans are not xenophobic. The official added that while South Africa intends to enforce its immigration laws against illegal immigrants, foreigners who are legally in the country should be protected and treated fairly. She also called on communities to reject attacks on foreign nationals. watch video below:     View this post on Instagram           A post shared by Lindaikejiblog (@lindaikejiblogofficial) The post South African artists lament over losing jobs across Africa over immigration backlash appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
