The Qatari ‌foreign ministry has sent a message to Iran, saying that under international law, no country bordering the Strait of Hormuz should obstruct passage or be prevented from passing.

In a news conference, the ministry’s spokesman, Majed al-Ansari, said two Liquefied Natural Gas, LNG, tankers have crossed the strait.

Al-Ansari, however, warned that the passage does not indicate that normal traffic had resumed.

He informed that regional leaders were communicating to prevent a return to escalation in the Middle East.

Separately, Al-Ansari said Qatar was also continuing to speak with the United States president, Donald Trump’s administration, while adding that relations with Tehran were positive.

However, he acknowledged Iran had chosen to attack Qatar, which has threatened their partnership.
