The Social Democratic Party, SDP, former presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, has said President Bola Tinubu’s early error was the removal of fuel subsidy.

Adebayo explained that Tinubu made such an error because he does not understand economics.

Tinubu had announced the removal of fuel subsidy during his presidential inauguration at the Eagles Square in Abuja in 2023.

However, Adebayo said, “Fuel subsidy is one of the early errors Tinubu made; he doesn’t understand economics.

“First and foremost, there was no subsidy to remove; what he was doing basically was fuel price increase because he didn’t have the fuel in the first place.

“It was a minor error and it was early; the problem he is facing is his inability to operate the budget. He’s spending over a hundred trillion since he came and even his own ministers are saying that they can’t see the money.”

The former presidential candidate also accused Tinubu of surrounding himself with the wrong set of people.

“Tinubu is an old man, a successful politician who found his way in a big house where he can spend a lot of money. He has a lot of unthinking people around him, looking for crumbs to get.

“To get rid of Tinubu is half of the problem, the other half tis o find the political class and a few of them that are capable of forming a government because what you are going to have is Tinubu go, Tinubu come,” he added.
