The outbreak has caused 49 confirmed deaths, while six patients have recovered.WHO said many initially suspected cases were later found to be malaria, meningitis, typhoid, or other illnesses with symptoms similar to Ebola. The current outbreak involves the Bundibugyo strain, for which there is no approved vaccine or treatment.Health officials stressed that suspected case numbers can fluctuate as investigations continue, while confirmed cases may rise as testing progresses.
