An unidentified young man operating a Point-Of-Sale (POS) business has been shot dead by armed robbers at his workplace in Gboko, headquarters of Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State.
The tragic incident which occured on Monday has thrown residents into shock and grief.
According to sources, the victim was attending to customers when the assailants stormed the location and attacked him.
The young man who was said to be struggling to make a living through the POS business, was shot in the process.
The attackers reportedly made away with an undisclosed amount of money while fleeing the scene.
An eyewitness who spoke on condition of anonymity said the attack happened suddenly, leaving people in the area terrified.
“It happened so fast. We never imagined such violence here,” the witness said.
Residents of the community have expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident, describing the victim as a hardworking young man trying to earn a living.
Community members have also extended condolences to the bereaved family, praying for divine comfort and strength in their time of grief.
As of the time of filing this report, the Spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command,DSP, Udeme Edet could not be reached to confirm the incident .
However, sources indicate that investigations into the incident have commenced.
