The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the killing of a 27-year-old man following a violent clash at a naming ceremony in Kirfi Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
According to the statement, the incident occurred on June 25, 2026, when a confrontation broke out between youths from Dosi and Tudun Sullubawa communities during the celebration.
The police said the victim, identified as Sani Abacha Alhaji Jabbi, was allegedly attacked with a machete during the violence.
He was rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, where medical personnel later confirmed him dead.
Following investigations, police arrested three suspects aged 18, 17 and 16 in connection with the incident.
The command said preliminary investigations had been concluded, and the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution of the suspects.
The police assured residents that efforts were ongoing to ensure justice is served and urged members of the public to resolve disputes peacefully and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could help prevent violent crimes.
