Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have intensified security operations across Benue and Taraba states, leading to the elimination of four suspected criminals, the rescue of kidnapped victims, and the dismantling of a drug trafficking syndicate.

The military disclosed that the operations were carried out through coordinated raids, intelligence-driven patrols, and clearance missions targeting criminal hideouts in both states.

According to military authorities, troops engaged armed suspects during separate encounters, resulting in the neutralisation of four criminals. Security personnel also successfully rescued abducted individuals held in captivity by kidnappers operating within the region.

In a related development, soldiers uncovered and disrupted a drug distribution network during operations in parts of Benue and Taraba. Several illicit substances were recovered, while suspects linked to the illegal trade were apprehended for further investigation.

The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against criminal elements threatening peace and security in the North-Central region.

Residents were also encouraged to continue providing credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping, banditry, and drug-related crimes.

Authorities said the operations form part of broader measures aimed at restoring safety and stability in communities affected by criminal activities.
