President Donald Trump declared Sunday that American military forces had dealt a severe blow to Iran’s naval capabilities, announcing that multiple Iranian vessels were destroyed in recent strikes and that a key naval facility was heavily damaged.
Posting on his Truth Social platform, Trump said he had been briefed on the outcome of the operation.
“I have just been informed that we have destroyed and sunk 9 Iranian Naval Ships, some of them relatively large and important,” Trump said on his Truth Social network.
He indicated that further action could follow.
“We are going after the rest—they will soon be floating at the bottom of the sea, also!
“In a different attack, we largely destroyed their Naval Headquarters. Other than that, their Navy is doing very well!”
The remarks come amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran, following months of maritime confrontations and heightened military posturing in strategic waterways. U.S. officials have repeatedly accused Iran of aggressive maneuvers in key shipping corridors, while Iranian leaders have warned against what they describe as American interference in the region.
