Tunisia appoint Herve Renard as new head coach after dismissing Sabri Lamouchi at the World Cup

Tunisia have officially appointed French coach Herve Renard as their new national team manager, just one day after dismissing Sabri Lamouchi, following the countrys disappointing start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) confirmed today that Renard will take charge of the national team ahead of its crucial Group F matches against Japan and the Netherlands. The decision comes after Tunisia suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their opening 2026 World Cup fixture on Sunday. Lamouchi, who was appointed in January and had signed a contract running until 2028, became the first coach to be dismissed during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The federation acted swiftly after the defeat, seeking an experienced manager capable of reviving Tunisias campaign. The appointment marks Renard's third men's World Cup with a third different country after 2018 with Morocco, where he managed one draw and two losses in a group-stage exit, and in 2022 when he managed Saudi Arabia, who famously beat Argentina and Lionel Messi in their first group game but lost the next two and failed to qualify for the knockout round. Renard also managed the French women's national team at the last Women's World Cup in 2023. They were knocked out in the quarterfinal stage by Australia. The post Tunisia appoint Herve Renard as new head coach after dismissing Sabri Lamouchi at the World Cup appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
