Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has acknowledged that Iranian leaders are facing heavier burdens in war.
Khamenei made this revelation in a message he released to mark the second anniversary of the passing of former Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.
Khamenei, apart from honouring the former president, who died in a helicopter crash, also addressed the challenges the new Iranian leadership is facing.
“The reality of war places a heavier burden of responsibility on the officials of the Islamic Republic”, he said in a written statement.
According to him, leaders need to actively address concerns about economics and maintain a widespread, direct presence.
DAILY POST reports that Khamenei himself has not been seen or heard in public since taking over from his father, who was killed in a US strike.
Media reports have it that he was severely injured in the incident and is in hiding, fearing another American attack.
