Iran’s top security official, Ali Larijani, has declared that the country is fully prepared for a prolonged conflict following the recent United States and Israeli military strikes.
Larijani spoke on Monday while commenting escalating conflict with the United States and Israel, which has heightened tensions in the Middle East. .
In a statement posted on X, he said Iran had anticipated the possibility of a drawn-out confrontation.
“Iran, unlike the United States, has prepared itself for a long war,” Larijani wrote.
He stressed that Iran would resolutely protect its sovereignty and its “6,000-year-old civilization,” regardless of the consequences. Larijani also warned that those behind the attacks would come to regret what he described as a serious miscalculation.
The remarks come after a large-scale military operation by the United States and Israel targeted key Iranian sites.
The strikes resulted in the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, marking a major escalation in hostilities and raising fears of further instability in the region.
