Wizkid associate, Godson denies fraud allegation, gives own account of business with ISB

Popular businessman and social media influencer, Uyi Godson Agho, also known as Godson, with the Instagram handle @godson45, has denied allegations that he defrauded social media influencer Clement Akpobome Ogudu, also known as IsokoBoy (ISB), of N100 million.

The controversy erupted after a video circulated on social media allegedly showing Godson pleading over the disputed funds. The footage, which purportedly depicted physical assault, intimidation and a private interrogation, generated widespread reactions online.

Reacting to the incident, Godson filed a petition with the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, through his lawyer, C. C. Ezenwa, Esq., insisting that the matter was a business disagreement that had been deliberately misrepresented as a fraud case.

According to the petition, Godson and IsokoBoy jointly operated a clothing business valued at about N320 million. He claimed that while on a business trip to China, he obtained N16.5 million from their joint business account to import goods, adding that the products were already on their way to Nigeria when the disagreement began.

Godson further alleged that IsokoBoy, alongside Victory Osadolor, Godwin Isiah Peter, Jakpa Emmanuel Tesimi, popularly known as Alavin, and others, stormed his residence, secretly recorded him while he was unclothed, and later circulated the footage online with claims that he had defrauded his business partner.

He alleged that he had an earlier disagreement with Godwin Isiah Peter, also known as Richie, before the current dispute, which he believes motivated Peter to widely circulate the video in an attempt to tarnish his reputation..

Explaining his side of the dispute, Godson said the N320 million represented the proceeds of their clothing business, which were to be shared equally. He said that after taking only N16.5 million from the proceeds to invest in another business, he expected IsokoBoy to deduct an equal amount from the funds before they shared the remaining balance.

“I believe there was no need to come with mutual friends for a matter like this. The business in question was worth N320 million. I had just taken N16.5 million from the proceeds. The entire goods are still with IsokoBoy. What he ought to do was to take the same share as I had taken, and we share the remaining balance equally. The social media posts and the attack on my person were needless.

“Business is about trust and understanding. I never in my wildest imagination thought someone I considered my business partner would go this far. But then, life is a lesson. Even if a business relationship goes sour, there are legal ways to resolve the dispute,” he said.

Godson further claimed that despite assuring his business partner that he would refund the money into their joint business account on Friday of the same week, the video was still circulated online.

“To ensure our partnership continues, I even agreed to pay back the money into our business account that same Friday, yet they went ahead to post lies about me,” he said.

In the petition, Godson urged the police to investigate the allegations and prosecute anyone found culpable.
