A member of the House of Representatives representing Kaura-Namoda/Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency, Sani Jaji, has called for a fair and transparent All Progressives Congress (APC) electronic membership registration process in Zamfara State, alleging that internal party rivalries have prevented some members from registering.
Jaji made the call on Wednesday while addressing journalists at the APC National Headquarters in Abuja, where he said he briefed the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, on alleged attempts by some party leaders in Zamfara to sideline certain factions during the ongoing exercise.
He claimed that the e-registration process in the state had been “hijacked” to marginalise specific groups, adding that even some state party officials were allegedly excluded.
According to the lawmaker, problems began shortly after the exercise commenced, while he was outside the country for the Lesser Hajj. He said supporters later informed him that some members, including those associated with his political movement, were denied registration.
Jaji noted that despite being a sitting member of the House of Representatives, he had yet to be registered in the exercise, describing the situation as troubling.
He warned that such internal actions could undermine the party’s chances ahead of the 2027 general elections if not addressed, drawing parallels with internal crises that weakened the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the past.
The lawmaker said the APC chairman assured him that the issue would be resolved, adding that relevant officials of the National Working Committee had been directed to intervene.
Jaji also attributed the situation in Zamfara to the absence of a clearly recognised party leader in the state, noting that internal disagreements had persisted since the APC lost control of the state government.
He stressed that the challenges facing the party were internal and not caused by external opposition, insisting that the APC remained strong in Zamfara.
