A 50-year-old bandit informant identified as Birish, who was arrested by the Katsina Community Watch Corps, has confessed to supplying the terrorists food, fuel and water in various communities in the state.
In a video shared on X by counter-insurgency, Zagazola Makama, Birish, a native of Gozo in Zango Local Government Area of the state, said he had been in the business of supplying the deadly bandits with logistics like food, fuel, drugs and drinks for several years before he was caught after intelligence reports linked him to the act.
While speaking in Hausa language, Birish admitted to assisting the bandits, though he claimed he did not deliver the items to them personally.
“My name is Birish, and I am from Gozo, Zango Local Government Area. I’m 50 years old, and I’m Hausa by tribe,” he said in the video.
“I have bought fuel and taken it to them. They always send a woman to come and take it and deliver it to them, and I don’t know her name.”

Birish also revealed the type of supplies he had procured for the bandits.
“We buy them beverages, ‘pure’ water (sachet water), bread, rice, and fuel.
“If we buy all the items for them, they send people to come and collect them in the town near Alhaji Bello’s house.”
He however, denied knowledge of recent attacks carried out by the bandits in his community.
“Those who came to attack a man were up to five, but I don’t know how much they collected from him. He stole some items and was apprehended, and a judgment was passed on him. I was not given any money,” he said.
