Abia local government election free, fair — IPAC

Political parties in Abia State have said that they are satisfied with the outcome of the November 2 local government election conducted by the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission, ABSIEC.

This is even as they cautioned local government-elected chairmen and their councillors against isolating those who lost in the election, advising them to run all-inclusive administrations.

The position of the parties was made known on Saturday in Umuahia by the chairmen of various political parties in Abia State in their post-election briefing.

The address, which was read by the Abia State chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, Nelccin Uluocha and Joseph Ulu, the publicity secretary, said that IPAC has not received any complaint from any party chairman protesting against the outcome of the local government polls.

Uluocha, who is also the state chairman of the Young Progressive Party, YPP, said that a review done by his council on the November 2 polls showed that the election was credible and not manipulated in favour of any political party.

Flanked by chairmen of the parties, the IPAC chairman advised candidates who are not satisfied with his results to consult with their party chairmen and follow the laid-down rules in presenting their complaints rather than using the media to overheat the Abia polity.

DAILY POST recalls that the chairmanship candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, for Isuikwuato LGA, Emenike Azubuike, had on Thursday accused ABSIEC of withholding the certified true copies of his results two weeks after he made applications for the documents.
