A human rights activist and leader of the Concerned Nigerians group, Deji Adeyanju, has called for greater transparency in the issue of 27 officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a statement released on Thursday via a press release, Adeyanju demanded that the identities of the dismissed officers be made public, and that they face prosecution.
The EFCC had in a significant move in its fight against corruption, dismissed 27 officers over serious allegations of misconduct, including corruption and other disciplinary offenses.

The action was spearheaded by the agency’s Executive Chairman, Mr. Olanipekun Olukoyede.
Adeyanju argues that revealing their identities and pursuing legal action is essential not just for maintaining the integrity of the EFCC, but also for reinforcing public confidence in an agency entrusted with the country’s fight against corruption.
“For far too long, allegations of corruption and abuse of power have circulated within the EFCC,” Adeyanju stated. “These are practices that should have no place in any agency, especially one tasked with safeguarding the nation’s financial integrity.”
While Adeyanju commended Olukoyede’s bold leadership and the agency’s decision to take action, he emphasized the need for full accountability. “The dismissal is a step in the right direction, but for true change to take root, we must see these officers named and prosecuted. Transparency in this matter will set a strong precedent and send a clear message to those who think they can operate above the law.”
