A pressure group, the Nigerian Female Students Coalition, NFSC. a body comprising female students across all institutions of higher learning in Nigeria, has condemned the allegation made against former minister, Oby Ezekwesili.
It may be recalled that one Sandra Duru, known as Prof Mgbeke, had accused Ezekwesili of engaging in bribery to support Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s sexual harassment allegation against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
However, in a statement signed by Comrade Grace Williams, National Secretary of the NFSC, the group condemned what it described as reprehensible attempts to distort the allegations at hand.
It claimed that, “This incident starkly highlights the pervasive issue of women being exploited, victimized, and marginalized in various spheres of Nigerian society.
“Sandra Duru has overstepped by trying to disparage our esteemed Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, who courageously lent support to a woman in distress.
“We condemn any attempt to twist the story, undermining the struggles of countless Nigerian women.”
The group commended Senator Natasha’s courage in “resisting victimization and speaking out, inspiring Nigerian women to stand up for their rights.
“We demand her immediate recall to the Senate, restoration of privileges, and full respect.
“Regarding Sandra Duru, NFSC will pursue her deportation from the USA to face trial.
“We urge Senator Akpabio to resolve this matter amicably by recalling Senator Natasha and restoring her rights.
“We urge Nigerians to stand in solidarity with Senator Natasha, promoting a society where women thrive without fear of harassment,” NFSC stated.
