Armed herders kill two in Benue farmland attack

Two farmers have been shot and killed by suspected armed herders in a deadly attack on Omebe village, located near the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, in Benue State.

The incident, which occurred while the victims were working on their farmland, was disclosed in a post by security analyst Zagazola Makama on his official X handle on Thursday.

According to the report, the victims; Tony Adejo and Jeremiah Danjuma were both residents of Odugbeho Ward in Agatu Local Government Area.

They were reportedly attacked by the assailants who fled the area before security forces arrived.

Police sources revealed that the Area Commander in Otukpo swiftly mobilised patrol teams and Police Mobile Force (PMF) personnel to the scene after receiving a distress call.

The bodies of the deceased were photographed and later evacuated to the Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital in Otukpo, where they were deposited for autopsy.
