At least 19 people were killed in a deadly bandit attack along the Bauchi-Plateau border on May 4, according to sources who spoke with Zagazola Makama.
A team of professional hunters from Duguri and Gwana Districts was conducting a routine patrol near the Duguri Mansur and Dajin Madam forest areas when they were ambushed by armed bandits at around 5:40 a.m.
Eight bodies were recovered at the scene of the attack. Eleven more, mostly civilians from Sabuwar Sara village, were later found along the bandits’ escape route. The victims were reportedly shot while trying to flee.
In swift response, troops of the 33 Artillery Brigade, alongside police and other security agencies, launched a joint operation to pursue the attackers and prevent further violence in the area.
