Bauchi gets new Head of Service

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has approved the appointment of Barr. Mohammed Sani Umar as the Acting Head of the Civil Service.

Umar takes over from Yahuza Haruna Adamu, who has retired after completing the mandatory 35 years of service.

The governor also approved key appointments within his administration, including the reassignment of two chairmen of educational institution boards and the appointment of Yahuza Adamu Haruna as the new Chief Economic Adviser.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Mukhtar Gidado.

As for the board chairmanship swap, Dr. Abubakar Surinbai Dahiru of the Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic (ATAP), will now lead AD Rufa’i College of Education, Legal, and Islamic Studies, Misau, while Senator Lawan Yahaya Gumau will take over as Chairman of ATAP.

The new Acting Head of Service, a seasoned legal professional and administrator, is expected to bring leadership, efficiency, and professionalism to the state’s public sector.

Before his appointment, he served as the Permanent Secretary for Establishment in the Office of the Head of Civil Service.

Meanwhile, the newly appointed Chief Economic Adviser, Alh. Yahuza Adamu Haruna, an expert in economic planning and policy, will provide strategic guidance to the government on sustainable development.

He will work closely with the State Economic Management Team to coordinate economic policies and monitor the implementation of government programs.

Both appointees will be sworn in today, Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 10 a.m. in the Council Chamber, Government House, Bauchi.
