CHAN 2024Q: Home Eagles must not focus on past encounters with Ghana – Ogunmodede

Super Eagles assistant coach, Daniel Ogunmodede says the team can’t dwell too much on history as they gear up for the second leg of their 2024 African Nations Championship, CHAN, qualifier against the Black Galaxies of Ghana.

The Black Galaxies have stopped Nigeria from qualifying for the CHAN twice in the past.

They edged out their perennial rivals on penalties to secure a place at the last edition of the competition in Algeria.

Ogunmodede insisted that they are focused on the task ahead not the past.

“We know history is not good to us with this country (Ghana) so we’ve decided not to pay attention to what history has done to us, we are focused on the present and what the future holds for us,” he said on NFF TV.

“We know how important it is to qualify, we have good future for ourselves, players, coaches, the country and coming generation.”

The home Eagles held Ghana to a 0-0 draw in the first leg in Accra on Sunday.

The reverse fixture will hold at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Saturday.
