Claims I allocated $3bn Maitama land to my son coming from Adamawa – Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike on Thursday claimed that the allegation that he allocated lands to his sons in Abuja ‘came from Adamawa State’.

There were reports that Wike allocated lands to two of his sons in the Maitama, Asokoro and Bwari areas of the FCT.

Dismissing the reports, Wike said: “Calculate the land in Maitama and Asokoro where we have 2000 hectares of land, ordinary mathematics just tells you that and then for the value of $3 billion and you want me to listen to you? These are the kind of things I tell people there are stories you tell are rubbish.

“I know where it’s coming from, it’s from Adamawa State, I’m aware. It doesn’t make sense – assuming not conceding that we are planning to allocate land to you because you are a citizen of Nigeria, my children are not citizens, they are Ghanaians?

“Assuming though not conceding, it doesn’t make sense, if I look at my file most of you have applied for lands and you want me to allocate to you but if my children apply I should not allocate because I’m the minister? Bring the document, bring empirical evidence.”

He also dismissed claims that President Bola Tinubu directed that he should be investigated over the matter.

“Those who said that the President directed me to be investigated, let them wait for the President to invite me, you think the President has no job to do?

“You have to understand that when you are trying to correct certain things, people will also fight you back. We are taking decisions to revoke lands and people will make sure that they fight back.”
