A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has discharged and acquitted Charles Ekeh, Mboyjames Izuah, and Chidi Alikor Wuzuh of the alleged murder of Ofone Davidson Wuzuh, which occurred along the Isiokpo-Obelle-Ibaa Road in 2013.
In his judgment on Friday, the trial judge, Justice Sika Aprioku, ruled that the prosecution, represented by the Rivers State Government, failed to prove the charges against the three defendants, who are all from Obitte Community in Elele.
Justice Aprioku criticized the prosecution’s reliance on the divination of a native doctor as evidence, stating that such claims were insufficient to secure a conviction.
He emphasized the defendants’ innocence and directed that they be excluded from further investigations into the case.
The court further urged law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts to identify and prosecute the actual perpetrators of the murder of Wuzuh.
