A Chief Magistrate Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, has ordered the remand of three individuals in connection with the stampede at Bashorun Islamic High School. The individuals include Mr. Abdullahi Fasasi, the principal of the school where the funfair was schedules to hold; Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, the proprietor of Agidigbo FM that helped publicise the event; and Naomi Silekunola, the estranged wife of Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ile Ife, who reportedly sponsored the event. Presided over by Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi, the courts ruling came on Tuesday, Dec. 24, following their arraignment by the Oyo State Police Command. The defendants face four-count charges related to the incident, as outlined by the police prosecutor, who cited a violation of Section 324 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
