Former Nigeria international, Kanu Nwankwo has reacted to the death of former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Peter Rufai.

The Arsenal legend also mourned the death of Liverpool forward, Diogo Jota.

Rufai died on Thursday after a prolonged sickness, while Jota died alongside his brother Andre in a car accident in Spain.

Reacting, Kanu in a post on his X account, described the sad news as a dark day in football.

The former Inter Milan and Ajax star, however, prayed for their souls to rest in peace.

“A dark day in football today. We lost an African Legend, Peter Rufai. May his soul rest well, Amen,” Kanu wrote on X.

“Hard to post this may your spirit continue to inspire all of us and future generations RIP condolences to your family.”

Kanu added in another post, “Sad sad sad RIP Diogo Jota.”
