The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has announced significant achievements by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in 2024, highlighting the arrest of 30,313 suspects and the rescue of 1,581 kidnap victims.
Egbetokun made this disclosure during a strategic meeting with senior officers at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
In a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, the IGP reviewed the NPF’s milestones for the year and shared plans to enhance operations in 2025.
“In the year under review, the Nigeria Police Force recorded major successes in tackling crime, leading to the arrest of 30,313 suspects for various heinous offences, the recovery of 1,984 assorted firearms, and 23,250 rounds of ammunition, as well as the rescue of 1,581 kidnapped victims,” the IGP stated.
Egbetokun commended officers for their unwavering commitment to combating crime and fostering community trust, which he described as central to the Force’s accomplishments.

He added, “The hard work and dedication displayed by our officers throughout the year have resulted in significant accomplishments in crime reduction and community engagement. Collaborative efforts between the police and the public have been instrumental in achieving these results.”
Looking ahead to 2025, the IGP emphasized the importance of modernizing the Force through technology and innovative strategies.
He said, “The Force will prioritize innovation in technology and operational strategies in 2025, learning from past experiences and adapting as we move forward. Senior officers are encouraged to embrace modern tools and progressive practices to enhance our effectiveness in crime prevention and investigation.”
As the nation approaches the festive season, Egbetokun reassured citizens of the NPF’s readiness to ensure a peaceful and secure environment.
“The Police Force, under my leadership, is committed to implementing necessary measures to safeguard lives and property during this festive period,” he affirmed.
