Kai Havertz scored the only goal as Arsenal beat Ipswich Town 1-0 in the Premier League on Friday night.
The Gunners came into the game knowing that a win would take them up into second place.
And although they dominated the first half, they had only Havertz’s goal on the scoresheet.
Havertz ran into the box unmarked to tap home Leandro Trossard’s cross in the 23rd minute.
There were no goals in the second half as Arsenal saw the game out.
Mikel Arteta’s men now have 36 points, six less than table toppers Liverpool, who have a game in hand.
