Former England striker, Darren Bent has urged Arsenal to drop their interest in signing Real Madrid star Arda Guler.
Bent claimed that the Turkey international won’t fit in the Gunners’ squad and is no improvement on their current options in midfield.
Guler joined Real Madrid from Fenerbahce in July 2023.
The 19-year-old has gone on to establish himself as one of the best young midfielders in European football.
According to Spanish publication Sport, Arsenal have made contact with Guler’s camp to gauge whether or not he would be interested in a move to the Premier League North London club.
“Not for me. You want a grade out of five? I will say one,” Bent said on talkSPORT’s Insider Gooners podcast.
“He won’t fit the squad. I think he’s a very good player, I saw him at the Euros, very talented. But will you swap one bench for another?
“At Real Madrid he’s not getting the opportunities. Coming to Arsenal there are better options, be it out wide or in the No.10 role.
“I can’t see that one happening. Good player, but, not for Arsenal, no.”
