Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca and Manchester United legend, Gary Neville have identified Romeo Lavia as the player that makes the Blues a better team.
Lavia helped Chelsea beat newly-crowned Premier League champions Liverpool 3-1 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
The Belgian midfielder was praised by Maresca and Neville following Chelsea’s victory against the Reds.
Lavia has been injured for the most part of the season.
He suffered a major injury blow ahead of their Chelsea’s Premier League tie with Tottenham Hotspur a couple of weeks ago.
Speaking at his post-match interview after Chelsea defeated Liverpool, Maresca said: “Unfortunately he [Lavia] has been injured for most part of the season.
“You can see that the team with Romeo in is a better team. Hopefully we can now keep him fit until the end [of the season],” he said.
Discussing Lavia, Neville added on Sky Sports: “I like Romeo Lavia a lot.
“He needs to stay fit. I think if he can get a season under his belt, he can be Enzo Maresca’s number one midfield player.
“He is a go-to player and he makes a big difference, they are a better team when he is in there.”
