Liverpool are now favourites to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.
According to Kicker, Wirtz has decided to snub their Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich.
The newly-crowned Premier League champions will now begin talks with Leverkusen over a record-breaking €150 million deal.
It is believed that Wirtz has informed Bayern that he favours a move to England.
The report claims “the conversation between Wirtz and Liverpool coach Arne Slot is said to have been a decisive factor.”
It added that despite similar talks with Bayern manager Vincent Kompany, “everything points to Wirtz moving to the UK.”
Slot is eager to beef up the squad that won the league title in his first season.
And it appears he has convinced the 22-year-old to move to Anfield. Wirtz also attracted interest from Real Madrid, who are set to employ Xabi Alonso as their new head coach.
