An X user posted a picture of “defeated LP Presidential Candidate”, Peter Obi alongside Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the former “came to learn good governance in Lagos”.
In the picture, Sanwo-Olu, an All Progressive Congress (APC) governor, and Obi, LP candidate in the last election, alongside some individuals were inside a train.
The post, especially the image, has stirred reactions online, amassing over 66,000 views and more than 500 engagements.
Verification:
A close examination of the picture reveals that it has been altered.
The LP candidate picture looks out of place: the fingers appear stunted and clustered, and the baseball cap on the head of Obi is not well-positioned.
Ripples Nigeria further checks using Google image search found the original image posted on the Lagos State government website.
According to a report on the website, the picture was taken at the flag off event of commercial operations of the recline rail on October 15, 2024.
Conclusion:
The image showing the LP presidential candidate with Sanwo-Olu has been altered.
