President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday, assured Nigerians that they would feel the impact of his purposeful leadership.

Tinubu spoke during the commissioning of the newly constructed Arterial Road N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way) from Life Camp Junction to Ring Road 3 (RR3) in Abuja.

The project which was constructed to mark Tinubu’s second year in office was commissioned by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, who represented the President.

He said: “When a city works, when the roads are paved, when lights are on it tells the world that the government is not just present but purposeful.

“Infrastructure after all, is not just about concrete and steel, it’s the most persuasive advertisement of leadership.

“A modern city inspires confidence, attracts investment and most importantly restores the dignity of those who call it home. That is why today’s occasion is not just about commissioning a road, it’s a grand reassurance that the city must work for their people and the functioning capital is the foundation upon which a functioning nation is built.”

He noted that the newly constructed road is a clear indication of the Renewed Hope agenda.

The president said the outskirts of Abuja would be considered in the execution of projects aimed at bringing developments.

“Commutes will shorten and congestion will ease drastically and livelihoods will flourish. Children will get to school faster, emergency services will arrive quicker. This is what we mean when we speak of renewed hope, this is what we mean when we speak of impact and not policy for the sake of politics but policy translated into progress.

“This is Renewed Hope poured into concrete and paved across kilometers.

“Our vision for Abuja is not limited to its city centre, we are equally committed to its outskirts, margins, and healing corners that struggle to breathe.

“Every road we build, every bridge we complete, every community we connect is a prime towards ensuring Nigeria’s progress.

“We are determined to ensure that development knows no postcode and governance does not discriminate and the dignity of our citizens is not defined why their geography.”

The president also commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike for his good works.

He assured Wike of his support in the area of policies and institutional backs towards the execution of projects that would give the capital city a face lift.

“I must at this point pay tribute to the honorable minister of the FCT, Wike whose sense of urgency in the execution of these projects is well known to Nigerians.

“We thank you for this outstanding work, this administration remains steadfast in its support for the FCTA and we will continue to provide the support, policy backing and institutional corporations needed so that projects like this are delivered on time to the highest standards.

“Our goal is to build a capital that works for everyone, so as we commission this road, let it be a symbol of commitment, not just of movement but of momentum. This is the Nigeria we are building together were impact is felt in every day life and every citizen, no matter how distanced from the corridors of power, feels the embrace of purposeful leadership,” he said.

On his part, Wike appreciated the president while soliciting for more support to enable him to carry out his duties.

“Your Excellency the road is good now, when we wanted to find land for the construction of the Abuja division of the court of Appeal and I was told by the Director of Land that there was a space, your Excellence, you can’t believe that as a city we would have such a terrible, horrible road.

“And through the federal council and by your support this contract was awarded last year September and we flagged it up October last year and today we are commissioning it. Your excellency there is no much talk but to thank you for your support and we will continue to solicit for more support,” Wike said.
