
Flying Eagles captain, Daniel Bameyi is optimistic the team will put up a better showing at 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.
Aliyu Zubairu’s side finished third at the just concluded 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The West Africans lost 1-0 to eventual champions Amajita of South Africa in the semi-final, before overcoming hosts Egypt 4-1 on penalities in the third-place match.
Bameyi declared that the team will be ready for the World Cup.
“We know where we need to do better — especially in front of goal. The coaching crew and the players are on the same page, and we’re determined to get it right.
“The World Cup is a big stage, and we’ll be ready,” the centre-back stated.
Bameyi also expressed appreciation to their fans and families for the support during their U-20 AFCON finals.
“This bronze is for the fans, our families, and everyone who stood by us. But we’re not done yet. There’s more to come from this team.”
