Gov Alia hands over truck of diverted palliatives to EFCC in Benue

The Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has handed over a confiscated truckload of palliatives to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) for investigation.

The governor, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, told the anti-graft agencies at the forum to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.

A truck conveying palliatives meant for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency was caught by security agencies offloading same at a private residence along Kilometre 2 in Makurdi recently.

Following the discovery, the governor confiscated the truck and moved it to the Government House to ascertain why palliatives meant for the constituency were being offloaded in a private residence in Makurdi.

Checks later revealed that the palliatives which were loaded from a National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) warehouse in Jos, Plateau State, found their way to a private residence following the directives of a member of the House of Representatives, Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency, Terseer Ugbor.
