
Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris, has approved the release of over ₦1 billion for the payment of gratuities and death benefits to retirees and families of deceased civil servants across the state.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by Rashidu Muhammad Bala, on behalf of the Head of Service, Malami Shekare, on Thursday, and made available to journalists in Birnin Kebbi.
According to the statement, the gesture is a demonstration of the governor’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of retirees and the families of deceased workers in Kebbi State.”
The approved funds are targeted at state and contract staff, local government workers, and employees of Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs) who either retired or died in active service between September 16 and December 15, 2024.
“A total of 459 beneficiaries will receive payments under this intervention,” the statement read.
“This covers gratuity and death benefits, aimed at easing the financial burden faced by affected families and honouring the service of the deceased and retired personnel.”
The Head of Service further stated that the move reflects the Idris administration’s continued effort to fulfil promises made to public servants.
