Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has mourned the passing of immediate past Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari.

CAN hailed Buhari’s legacy of service in a statement signed by Archbishop Daniel Okoh, its President.

The Christian body extended its condolences to the family, friends and associates of the former President.

DAILY POST reported that Buhari died while receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness in London, United Kingdom on Sunday.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, in the company of top officials of the President Bola Tinubu administration, has gone to London to bring Buhari’s remains back to Nigeria.

CAN noted that while Buhari’s tenure “was not without its challenges, [he] served our nation with dedication and a deep sense of duty”.

“His contributions to Nigeria’s development and his commitment to public service form a significant part of our national history.

“We join all Nigerians in mourning his loss, and we pray that the Almighty God grants his family and loved ones the strength to bear this sorrow. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
