A deadly clash between hunters and herders in Gidan Ori Kajan Village, Matari, Kaduna State, has claimed the life of 50-year-old Haladu Saidu.

Eyewitnesses told Zagazola Makama that the incident unfolded on May 3, 2025, when a group of hunters from Wucicciri Village, Zaria, stormed a Fulani settlement wielding sticks, swords, and cutlasses, and accompanied by dogs.

The confrontation, reportedly triggered by a lingering dispute, turned violent, resulting in Saidu being struck on the head. He was rushed to the Maigana Health Center but was pronounced dead.

At the family’s request, his body was released for burial under Islamic rites without a post-mortem.

Police in Maigana, under the leadership of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), have arrested five suspects: Abdulaziz Magaji, Kamaludin Abubakar, Ali Idris, Saminu Dahiru, and Jamilu Umar—residents of Wucicciri Village.
