Here is why PGMOL withdrew Anthony Taylor from Premier league fixtures

Premier League top referee, Anthony Taylor, has been withdrawn from this round of fixtures in the league after his history making performance by issuing the most yellow cards in a league.

Anthony Taylor did not get any game as the centre referee assigned to him this weekend after being subjected to abuse on social media after the game between Bournemouth and Chelsea. The Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) confirmed that Taylor would be a fourth official on Southampton's home game against Ipswich Town on Saturday and Brighton's trip to Nottingham Forest a day later.

Chelsea and Bournemouth face Football Association fines of £25,000 for picking up more than six yellow cards in a match with eight Blues players being booked while the Cherries had six players booked by Anthony Taylor.

Chelsea's head coach, Enzo Maresca, expressed his displeasure with the way Taylor handled the match. According to him, he said it was not about the yellow cards issued, but it is the circumstances at which they were issued.

"It’s not a problem this amount of yellow cards. It is what it is.I complained about a foul on Wesley Fofana, which, for me, was quite clear. But it can happen, eight yellow cards, probably because these sort of games are about duels and fights. Sometimes, the game demands the way you have to behave.”

Chelsea will face West Ham United in their next league game while Bournemouth play Liverpool at Anfield.
