‘I have no regret killing, dismembering my girlfriend’ —Gospel singer, Timileyin Ajayi

Timileyin Ajayi, the self-acclaimed gospel singer who was arrested by the Nasarawa State Police Command after he was caught with the severed head of a lady later identified as Salome Eleoja Adaidu, a 24-year-old member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who worked at Nicon Insurance in Abuja, says he does not have any regret killing and dismembering her.

Ajayi, 32, was apprehended last Sunday in the Orozo area of Nasarawa by churchgoers after he was found with a sack containing the severed head of Adaidu whom he later claimed to be his girlfriend.

A church member, Umaru Adamu, who shared the incident on Facebook, said Ajayi was caught when another member became suspicious with the way he (Ajayi) was carrying the sack and the flies that trailed him.

Upon a search, the freshly severed head of a woman was found in the sack.

“The congregant was horrified to discover the freshly severed head of a young woman, who appeared to have recently braided her hair in a stylish ‘million braids’ fashion,” Adamu wrote.

He added that the church member immediately raised an alarm which prompted other worshippers to rush outside and apprehend Ajayi. Upon interrogation, he confessed that the head was that of his girlfriend who had visited him the day before.

He was reportedly beaten to a pulp before he was handed over to the Nasarawa State Police Command and remanded in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Command in Lafia, the state capital.

However, during a parade and interview session with journalists on Tuesday, Ajayi who admitted to killing and decapitating Adaidu, said he had no regret killing the lady.

When asked if he actually killed Adaidu, Ajayi responded in the affirmative:

“Yes.

He however said the killing was not premeditated, and attributed the act to the frustration of not being able to spend time together consistently.

“I killed her because we don’t have each other all the time, it’s not something I planned,” he confessed.
Ajayi also accused the deceased of cheating on him which made him angry.

“It happened on that day and it happened. Not that I have the plan in mind, she was cheating. She hides most of the things from me most times. I got to know from her phone. I saw her chats with other guys on the phone, that was why I decided,” he said.

When he was asked if he regretted his actions, Ajayi responded that he did not regret committing the crime.

“I don’t have any regrets because life is reciprocal that is what I thought, if you must do something to someone, you have to be reciprocal with that person.

“You have to understand what that person is going through so that you can actually put yourself in the position that the person is going through, that is why I don’t have any regrets because we were actually compatible.”
