The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday closed its case in the petition challenging the outcome of the September 21, 2024 governorship election at the state election tribunal sitting in Abuja.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo are challenging the INEC declaration of Governor Monday Okpebholo as the winner of the election over alleged widespread irregularities.
When the matter was called on Thursday, the INEC lead counsel Mr. Kanu Agabi (SAN), told the Justice Wilfred Kpochi-led three member tribunal that the commission has decided not to call any witness but to close its case.
