
The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa has reminded chairmen of LGAs in the state of their roles as Chief Security Officers in their various localities.
The CP who held a meeting with the 17 LG chairmen in Umuahia on Tuesday, urged them to provide timely and credible information to the police, avoid shielding suspected criminals, and work with youth leaders to maintain security.
He stressed the need for the LG chairmen to collaborate with their respective Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and Area Commanders, as well as with youth leaders and landlords to ensure proper screening of prospective tenants before renting out properties.
CP Danladi Isa stressed that the meeting with the LG chairmen was organized in collaboration with the Abia State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Uzor Nwachukwu, to strengthen grassroots security coordination.
He thanked Governor Alex Otti for his support to the Abia Police Command and reaffirmed the Command’s support to the council chairmen in their localities, pointing out that security is a collective responsibility.
The CP reiterated the Command’s commitment to professionalism, integrity and justice, stressing that acts of misconduct and unprofessionalism by officers will not be tolerated.
