
The Jigawa State Judiciary has officially launched its newly revised Rules of Court under the Administration of Criminal Justice Law, ACJL, aimed at improving the state’s justice delivery system.
The rules were formally signed into effect by the Honourable Chief Judge of Jigawa State, Justice Umar M. Sadiq, during a ceremony held at the Judicial Complex in Dutse on Wednesday.
Designed to enhance judicial efficiency, the updated rules aim to reduce delays in criminal trials and promote greater transparency and fairness in court proceedings.
In his address, Justice Umar Sadiq commended the Rules Committee and other stakeholders for their dedication in developing the revised framework. He emphasized the critical need for reforms that ensure speedy and fair trials while upholding the rights of defendants.
Also speaking at the event, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Bello Abdulkadir Fanini, lauded the judiciary’s leadership and acknowledged the executive arm’s collaborative role in advancing legal reforms.
He noted that the new rules would significantly strengthen the justice system and enhance access to justice across the state.
