The Kaduna State government has confirmed that the incident at Mando Motor Park in the early hours of April 5 was a minor explosion from a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered bus and not a bomb blast.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the state Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, the government said preliminary findings indicated that the vehicle, operated by Silver Luxury Travel, experienced a technical fault linked to overfilling.

“Preliminary findings confirm that the incident involved a CNG-powered bus with a minor explosion traced to a technical fault linked to overfilling.

There was no bomb explosion, and no casualties or property loss were recorded.”

He added that the situation was swiftly contained and normal activities had since resumed at the park.

The commissioner said the development followed an earlier statement by the Kaduna State Police Command on the incident.

According to him, Governor Uba Sani has ordered a comprehensive multi-agency investigation to determine both the immediate and underlying causes of the incident.

“The probe will involve relevant security agencies, technical regulators, and safety authorities to ensure full accountability and strengthen operational standards for CNG usage across the state,” Maiyaki stated.
