The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kebbi State has called for the immediate release of its Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Sani Dododo, following a court ruling that resulted in his detention.
Speaking to reporters in Birnin Kebbi, the State Chairman of the party, Usman Bello Suru, condemned the Magistrate Court’s judgement, accusing it of being politically motivated and biased in favor of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, administration in the state.
Suru explained that Dododo’s comments during a recent radio programme, which sparked the legal action, were made in his official capacity and reflected the PDP’s collective stance on the governance style of the APC-led government in Kebbi.
“The judgement is a direct affront to the right of every citizen to speak truth to power,” Suru said. “We have mobilised legal experts to challenge this ruling and will continue to expose the failures of this administration and defend the people of Kebbi State.”
DAILY POST reported on Friday that the Kebbi State Government denied involvement in the legal dispute between Alhaji Sani Dododo and Comrade Mohammed Usman Anache, describing it as a personal matter unrelated to Governor Nasir Idris or his administration.
In a statement released on Friday, the government clarified that the case is a personal matter between the two parties and not connected to Governor Nasir Idris or his administration.
“We want to make it categorically clear to the good people of Kebbi State that His Excellency, Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, is a true democrat who respects the rule of law,” the statement read.
The government also noted that it only became aware of the matter through public discussions and emphasized that it had no role in the court proceedings.
“This administration is not involved in the case and should not be linked to it in any way,” the statement added.
