Kebbi State Police Command has apprehended three suspected members of the Lakurawa terrorist group for allegedly offering a bribe of N1.6 million to a lead investigator to compromise an ongoing case.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Abubakar, in a statement on Tuesday, identified the suspects as Umaru Garba, Alhaji Abubakar Mamman, and Usman Muhammadu. According to the statement, the suspects conspired to bribe police detectives to derail the investigation and prosecution of a banditry case linked to the Lakurawa group.

“They were immediately arrested, and an investigation into the matter is ongoing,” the statement read.

“The suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.”

The Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State, Bello M. Sani, commended the detectives for their professionalism and diligence in rejecting the bribe. He reiterated the command’s commitment to combating banditry and other criminal activities in the state.

Sani further encouraged officers to uphold integrity and remain steadfast in the fight against crime.
