The Chief of Staff to the Kwara State Governor, Prince Abdulkadir Mahe, was buried on Saturday evening, hours after he passed away.

The Janazah prayer, held at his Ilorin residence, was attended by thousands of mourners, including Governors Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq (Kwara) and Ahmed Usman Ododo (Kogi); senior government officials and bureaucrats; clerics and community leaders; and family members.

Among those present were the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Yakubu Salihu Danladi; the Grand Kadi of the Kwara State Shari’a Court of Appeal, Justice Abdullateef Kamaldeen; and House of Representatives member Ahmed Yinka Aluko.

The funeral prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Soliu, who prayed to Allah to grant the deceased al-Jannah Firdaus.

“This is a great loss. He was a stabilising factor in our administration and a pillar of support. We will truly miss him. May Allah grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus,” Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq said to reporters on the sidelines of the event.

Governor Ododo, for his part, described Mahe as a peace-loving personality and prayed for the repose of his soul.

“He was a peace-loving personality. The entire family and the state in general will miss him. There is nothing more to say because from Him we come, and unto Him we shall return. What we owe him now is prayer, and we will continue to pray for him,” he stated.

A septuagenarian, Prince Abdulkadir Mahe was appointed Chief of Staff on November 3, 2023, after a distinguished career in public service.
