
A 43-year-old man identified as Pere Faruk has been reported dead in a suspected suicide.
The incident occurred shortly after he allegedly poured acid on his girlfriend during a domestic dispute in Lagos Island.
It was gathered that the incident occurred at 5:40 pm on Sunday, June 30, at No. 8 Messy Street, Lagos Island, according to a report by Zagazola Makama.
Family sources said Faruk’s younger brother, Pere Jeli, who resides at No. 9 Igbosere Street, was alerted to the incident and promptly raised the alarm.
The woman involved, identified as Kemi Bashiru, was immediately rushed to the Lagos Island General Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment for extensive burns.
Shortly after the altercation, Faruk was found dead in his room, with a bottle of Sniper insecticide discovered beside him, indicating a possible suicide.
His remains were transported to the hospital and later deposited in a public mortuary for autopsy. Emergency responders were also at the scene to document the incident.
Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the full details surrounding the altercation and the events that led to the fatal outcome.
