Man reportedly lying unconscious in the hospital after falling into a canal while allegedly being pursued by police officers

A middle-aged man simply identified as Bidemi is lying unconscious at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital after he fell inside a canal while allegedly being chased by some police officers who weren't in uniforms. An X user who shared the story online said the victim is her friend's husband. She posted a gory video showing the moment the man's unconscious body was pulled out from the canal by residents of the area and staff of the Lagos State Fire Service.  According to the X user, the officers profiled the victim as a Yahoo boy because of his tattoo. She said he decided to run after the officers corked their guns. He was reportedly chased until he fell into the canal. She said eyewitnesses claim the officers allegedly went away with the victim's money and shoes.  Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has ordered a full investigation into the matter. Watch the videos she shared below Yesterday morning, police chased my friend's husband till he fell into the canal, they took his slippers and money that fell and left when people started shouting.
