
In a heartfelt gesture marking the National Police Week 2026, the Delta State Police Command presented cheques totaling over ₦16 million to families of 13 deceased officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
The ceremony, held in Asaba, Delta State, was the climax of the week’s state-level activities, ahead of the grand finale at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Commissioner of Police Yemi Oyeniyi, described the event as “solemn and significant,” emphasizing the Force’s unwavering commitment, saying the
funds aim to provide vital support to the bereaved families.
“This reflects the leadership’s promise to stand by the families of our fallen heroes,.
“Their sacrifices are invaluable and will never be forgotten. We urge judicious use of this support and assure continued solidarity.” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Ahanuwa Raphael, expressed profound gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police and the Delta State Police Command.
“This gesture will go a long way in assisting our families. We pray for strength and success for the Nigeria Police Force.”
According to the commands spokesperson, SP. Bright Edafe, the presentation highlights ongoing efforts to honor police sacrifices amid National Police Week celebrations.
