New Commissioner of police assumes duty in Ebonyi

The new Commissioner of Police for Ebonyi State, CP Anthonia Adaku Uche-Anya, has assumed duty.

The 27th CP of the state assumed duty on Tuesday at the Command’s Headquarters in Abakaliki.

Uche-Anya, hails from Nwangele Local Government Area of Imo State.

A statement issued by the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, revealed that Uche-Anya has occupied various key positions in the Nigerian police force

Parts of the statement read, “Anthonia Adaku Uche-Anya, fdc, is from Nwangele LGA of Imo State. She holds a Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science, a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B), a Master of Laws (LL.M), and a Master’s in Security and Strategic Studies.

“She joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) on 01/11/1991 and has served meritoriously in various roles across the country.

“She was CSP ‘A’ at Lagos State Command, Legal Officer at the Legal Section of FCID Abuja, and DPO at both the Lion Building and Ikoyi Divisions in Lagos State.

“After her promotion to Assistant Commissioner of Police, she served as Area Commander in Umuahia, Abia State, Coordinator of the CP Crack Squad in Abia, Coordinator of the Special Operations Squad in Delta State, and AC Special Enquiry Bureau at FCID Headquarters, Abuja.”

“In 2020, she was promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and was assigned to the Welfare Department of the Finance and Administration section at Force Headquarters, Abuja, before later serving as DCP Administration in the Force Intelligence Department (FID). She was recently appointed Commissioner of Police and posted to Ebonyi State.

“CP Uche-Anya has attended several advanced courses, including the Tactical Leadership Command Course, Strategic Leadership Command Course, Policy Support and Implementation Course, Peace Support Operations Course, and Higher Defence and Strategic Studies Course.

“A fellow of the National Defence College, CP Uche-Anya is also a member of professional bodies such as the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the International Association of Women Police (IAWP), the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the National Institute of Police Studies, and the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).”

The CP expressed her dedication to efficient policing across Ebonyi State and urged for collaboration from the public and various stakeholders.

“CP Anthonia Adaku Uche-Anya is committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring their police mandate of protecting lives and property in Ebonyi State. She seeks the support of all relevant stakeholders in discharging her responsibilities,” the statement added.
